Singing Bowls

Singing bowls produce balanced tones when struck or rubbed. They can be made of different materials, be rather bulbous or flat and vary in size. The Peter Hess® Therapy Singing Bowls were developed especially for sound massage with special vibration and sound properties. Besides the use in sound therapy and massages, singing bowls are also used in meditation and yoga.

Which singing bowl should I buy?

If you want to buy a singing bowl, you should first consider for what purposes you want to use it. Are you primarily interested in the sound or do you also want to use it for therapy or massage? If the latter is the case, you should also check the vibration behavior of the singing bowl.

At Hess Sound we offer different types of singing bowls for very different areas of application and always in the highest quality. Maybe a singing bowl set or a music singing bowl is the right choice for you. If you are unsure which bowl to buy, contact us and we will be happy to advise you.

What is special about Peter Hess® Singing Bowls?

The basis for the design and manufacture of our singing bowls is the ancient knowledge of manufacturing and material composition. We use only pure, high-quality metals (copper and tin) with no metals from waste products or scrap. In the context of Peter Hess® Sound Massages we ourselves work intensively with the singing bowls to optimize them continuously. Findings from research and good development also influences the production.

What size and effect do singing bowls have?

Depending on the size and the frequency associated with it, a singing bowl can have a different effect on different areas of the body. The vibrations of the bowl are intended to stimulate body cells to strengthen their self-healing powers. Individual areas of the body require different frequency spectrums and vibration characteristics of the singing bowl. A heart bowl has a different effect than a pelvic bowl or a head bowl.

Small bowls are for example the head bowl, the heart bowl and the throat bowl. Large bowls are the pelvic bowl, the solar plexus bowl, and the universal bowl. In addition to the size, the striking point and the strength with which it is struck also has an effect on the sound. The bowl can develop its best sound when it is struck on the outer edge. A soft touch produces soft sounds, and a powerful touch produces louder, more intense sounds.

High tin content in Peter Hess® Singing Bowls

Our singing bowls have a high tin content with this raw material being a particularly high quality. Other manufacturers often reduce the tin content or replace it with lead (solder) because tin is several times more expensive.

Elaborate forging technique

Our Peter Hess® Therapy Singing Bowls are forged from a cast blank. Compared to rational production, this means about 30 percent more work. With the forging technique we use, the singing bowl vibrates much longer and more evenly.

High quality standards of Peter Hess® Singing Bowls

Approximately 320 kg of Peter Hess® quality singing bowls are produced from 1.000 kg of high-quality bronze. This is partly due to the fact that we remove the singing bowls from the production process if the bowls do not meet our quality standards. The rejected singing bowls are then melted down again, whereby material losses occur. During the “fine tuning” of the singing bowls, fine metal chips are taken from the bowl that can only be reused with great losses due to evaporation during melting down process.

Our strict quality controls

Even if a good pre-selection takes place in Nepal and India, some of the manufactured singing bowls still do not meet our requirements to receive the quality seal “Peter Hess® Therapieklangschale – professional therapeutic quality”. All singing bowls from Hess Sound are again intensively tested for their quality and classified in the quality levels at our factory in Germany.

Good working conditions and fair payment

We ensure good working conditions at fair terms and control that no child labor takes place in our production facilities.

Please excuse that we don't have all our products in stock at the moment. Due to the tense situation of global supply chains, we are experiencing longer delivery times.
Various factors (COVID, lack of personnel, etc.) lead to considerable delays both in the procurement of raw materials and on the freight route. We hope that the situation will soon ease.
